Current Openings

Retreat Host and Administration Associate

To advance the mission and vision of SAMBICA by expanding SAMBICA’s Guest Programming, especially with a focus on Guest Programs for Youth.  Preparing a place for people to experience God.  (John 14:2-4)

Full time hybrid position:

            This position will look different during different times of the year.  From September through May you will be spending your weekends (Fri-Sun) Hosting guest groups and week days (typically Wed-Thu) supporting administration and marketing functions of SAMBICA.  For June-August this position will focus on customer service in the main office and/or supervise a portion of our summer team.

Responsibilities:

  • Hosting Guest Groups
  • Be the primary Point of Contact for our guests.
  • Communicate with groups leading up to their retreat.
  • Anticipate the needs of our guests and respond excellently.
  • Housekeeping Duties
  • Laundry
  • Custodial
  • Stocking cleaning supplies
  • Marketing to potential guest groups via email, phone, print media, social media, and in-person visits.
  • Support office administration functions and customer service in the main office. (Phones, online registration support, etc.)
  • Lead interns in serving our guest well.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A love for children (Mark 10:14-15).
  • A demonstrated enthusiasm for the experience of Christian camping is a must.
  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Presents a positive image to the public.

This is an entry level full-time, salaried exempt position that includes paid time off as well as individual medical, dental, and retirement benefits. Shared housing may be available.  Salary is DOE.

Recruiter

To advance the mission and vision of SAMBICA by recruiting, hiring, and caring for the SAMBICA summer team.  The annual goal is to hire the summer team of roughly 100 by the end of May.

The Big Three:

  1. Constant focus on recruiting opportunities.
  2. Provide excellent first contact and follow ups for potential team members.
  3. Run systems and processes for summer team hiring.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Help oversee pastoral care and Staff Experiences for the summer team during the summer.
  • Conduct interviews by phone, video, online, and in person.
  • Follow up with prospects in a way that is both timely and excellent.
  • Assist with Human Resources processes (e.g. post-summer follow up, assist with post-hire paperwork, etc).
  • Travel for college visits.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Leading a portion of the summer team.
  • Assist with Year Round Youth Programming and Events.
  • Assist with Challenge Course Facilitation and other recreational activities.
  • Summer Youth Programs planning and prep.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Youth Programs Director

Kitchen and Facilities Associate:

To advance the mission and vision of SAMBICA through serving our guests, ensuring that they have an excellent experience within our food and facilities departments.

Full time hybrid position:

This position will involve some flexibility and adaptability throughout the seasons.

In the fall to spring months you will be assisting in the upkeep of landscaping and maintenance (Tue/Thu) while providing support to the kitchen (Fri-Sun) with Wednesday being a flex day to help as needed (after-school program, additional maintenance or kitchen operations)  

During the summer season you will assist our Head Chef in leading our kitchen team.

Kitchen Responsibilities:

  • Depending on skills and interest, take ownership of an area of kitchen operations
  • Assist in management of interns and full time staff in the kitchen. From set up to clean up.
  • Organize and manage the food storage.
  • Manage incoming food orders.
  • Supervise food prep.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Facilities Responsibilities:

  • Depending on skills and interest, take ownership of an area of facilities maintenance and advancement.
  • Trash runs.
  • Mowing and lawn maintenance.
  • Assisting Facility manager with upkeep of grounds.

  • Flexible and adaptable to the constant changes of camp ministry as we grow and learn together.

  • At least one year of food service experience or training.
  • Experience in at least one area of facilities maintenance (landscaping, carpentry, etc) or willingness to learn.
