A Light on the Lake Since 1919
SAMBICA (Sammamish Bible Camp Association, historically) was founded in 1919 by Swedish Tabernacle Church members. It began as a youth bible conference and was directed by “Uncle” Annis and “Aunt” Ruby Jepson for 30 years. SAMBICA is now a not-for-profit, non-denominational Christian camp and conference center.

Over the last 99 years, SAMBICA has worked hard to achieve the current level of high quality programs that benefit our campers and the surrounding community. At its start SAMBICA was run by Annis and Ruby Jepson for 30 years.SAMBICAis no longer a remote camp nestled in the woods; it is now immersed in suburbia. SAMBICA’s 30+ buildings are spread over 9 acres on the shores of Lake Sammamish in Bellevue, Washington.

Today, SAMBICA offers youth summer camps and retreat ministries. SAMBICA provides both overnight camps, day camps, and a high school leadership program during the summer months. Approximately 120 staff members are hired each summer to run the camp operations in roles such as counselors, lifeguards, boat drivers, and kitchen staff. Over 2,400 children attend SAMBICA’s summer programs each year.

During the fall, winter, and spring seasons SAMBICA serves other nonprofit organizations, schools, and churches through hospitality programs. SAMBICA’s quality food, great customer service, and convenient location provide the perfect setting for reflection, relaxation, and team building. SAMBICA also runs many youth programming events for elementary through high school students throughout the school year.


SAMBICA is a member based association made up of all the donors who give an annual amount of $300.00 or more. The Board of Directors and Staff provide the membership with an Annual report each year and host a scheduled Annual meeting for members. The Board of Directors is accountable to the membership in their governance responsibilities.

SAMBICA is managed by a qualified team of full time team members. Click Here to get to know our staff. Ten full time team members are supported by hourly staff, seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers that maintain the ongoing ministry and programs. Together the board and staff keep the ministry relevant, focused and looking toward the future.

Financial Accountability

SAMBICA is held accountable to its Board of Directors, which has fiduciary responsibility over the camp & retreat center. The Board meets monthly to review all the financial data. Anyone may request a copy of SAMBICA’s financial statements.

CCCA Affiliation

SAMBICA is a member of CCCA (Christian Camp and Conference Association). CCCA exists to proclaim the power and benefits of the Christian camp and conference experience, and to provide leaders at member organizations with ongoing encouragement, professional training, and timely resources.
