Summer Team Contract

Christian role models for children, youth, adults and each other!

Through the years, parents have placed a great trust in the SAMBICA experience. It is of the utmost importance that we do not do anything to endanger this trust. In order to continue and strengthen this trust and further the SAMBICA ministry, we ask SAMBICA team members to be committed to the highest principles as Christian role models for children, youth, adults and each other. We ask all SAMBICA team members to abide by the following statement of commitment.

Failure to keep any part of this commitment or to not share in SAMBICA’s vision of ministry during the summer may impact your employment during the summer and affect the possibility of being rehired.  Please understand this commitment applies from the moment training begins until you return home after a summer of ministry. In addition, please understand that we are not taking a theological stand against such things as alcohol and smoking. These commitments are in the general interest of an individual’s personal growth, team unity, ministry effectiveness, and SAMBICA’s reputation in our community.

We ask our summer team members to abide by the following commitments:

While serving at SAMBICA either as a volunteer or paid worker I will…

Commitment Statement

As a SAMBICA team member I pledge to model a lifestyle that is consistent with Biblical teaching concerning the Christian life (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Galatians 5: 16-26, Romans 1:18-32); to maintain a good reputation, managing both personal and professional relationships with spiritual sensitivity, and to follow Mathew 18 in all matters pertaining to relationships and disagreements.

Statement of Faith

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth,
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Summer Team Contract

  • I will seek the daily renewal of my spirit through the practice of personal spiritual disciplines prior to and during the summer.
  • I will nurture my relationship with Christ through participation in weekly staff spiritual growth.
  • I will use time off as a Sabbath.
  • I will contribute to staff unity by pursuing and developing only those relationships that are above reproach and inclusive.
  • I will be a supportive team member and work quickly and responsively for the resolution of conflict.
  • I will submit to righteous correction by God through his Holy Spirit, when approached biblically by brothers and sisters in Christ. I will also submit to correction by leadership if the need should ever arise.
  • I will maintain my physical strength by being in bed by midnight each weeknight of the summer.
  • I will refrain from the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other controlled substances both on and off the camp grounds.
  • I will refrain from getting new tattoos and piercings during the summer.
  • I will refrain from posting any pictures of campers while employed at SAMBICA on any social networks.
  • I understand and accept the ministry times for ALL positions at SAMBICA. I realize the week begins at 3:30pm (2:30pm for Leadership Team) on Sundays and ends as late as 10pm on Fridays. I also realize the hours in between provide opportunity to invest in campers, plan for the next day, spend time in devotion and daily prayer, do work projects, build relationships, and take care of personal needs.
  • I will give myself fully to my camp responsibilities in order that I may grow as a minister and serve others in every possible way.
