Unforgettable Camp Experiences Found Here!

by Staff 14. April 2011 01:09

SAMBICA registrations are in full swing and families from all around the Puget Sound are jumping on board to sign their children up for a camp experience they won’t soon forget! For children entering 1st through 12th grades, there are a range of camp opportunities available. Sessions are week long, but campers can sign up for multiple sessions. Day Camp, Resident Camp, Adventure Camp, or the ELITE program; there is a fit for every camper.

Some may ask: what does a week of camp look like at SAMBICA? What can we expect? What are we getting ourselves into? On any given day, you will find campers scattered about our grounds with their counselors doing anything from jumping on the water trampoline, kayaking, fine-tuning their archery skills, tubing behind a boat on the beautiful Lake Sammamish, maneuvering through the trees on our ropes course, laughing over lunch in the dining hall, singing catchy songs in the Forum, cheering on our staff’s weekly elaborate pirate show, or bonding during Bible Study.

And if your camper is looking to go explore the great outdoors, we’d encourage you to check out our Adventure Camp options. They could spend the week horseback riding at Stonewater Ranch, or rafting, hiking and rock climbing in Leavenworth or Tygh Valley.

You entrust us with your children, and we take the charge seriously. Our summer counselors are unique, fun, creative, and positive role models for their campers. They work hard to give them an experience of a lifetime, so that each of our kids will walk away with cherished memories, new best friends, and a lot of SAMBICA love.

Registration is easy. Just go to www.sambica.com, click on “Camps” and get started. A range of discounts and scholarships are available as well. The SAMBICA waterfront is calling your name, and a summer of fun on the lake will be one to remember.

Red Light, Green Light: Summer Staffing Makes My Day!

by Staff 18. February 2011 21:02

Getting up early in the morning when it is still dark outside and there are very few people on the road can put a damper on the day but when I walk into my office and see a little red light flashing with returned messages and my email inbox full of new applications, the beginning of the day just got a lot brighter.

I have the privilege of working at SAMBICA this year as the Summer Staff Supervisor. Our summer staff application process is under full swing and we are now recruiting and hiring from all over the country. With over 2,000 kids coming through our programs, we are looking for about 100 quality staff to fill multiple positions all across camp.

Part of my job is shifting through the applications and interviewing the applicants. I have worked in the camping ministry for the past seven years in all different aspects of camps, ranging from the dinning hall to lifeguard to co-program director. This is my first opportunity to be a part of the hiring processes from beginning to end.  I have an amazing boss, Andy, who is helping me learn the ins and outs of recruiting.  I probably have to say that this is the best part of camping ministry that I have been involved with so far.  I know all too well that a summer rises and falls on their summer staff, so we are eagerly searching for the best staff possible.

Though the mornings come early, every time I walk into my office I anticipate what awaits me for that day. Who am I going to talk with today?  Am I going to be talking with someone who will be a part of influencing kid’s lives this summer?
