SAMBICA SPARK (entering grades 1-5)

All the fun of traditional summer camp!

SAMBICA is excited to offer three additional weeks of Day Camp this summer hosted at Sunset Elementary school! SAMBICA SPARK campers will spend part of each day doing camp activities, color games, and water play at Sunset Elementary and part of each day just a 2 minute walk down the trail at SAMBICA enjoying all of the inflatables, field games, and other activities that camp has to offer. It’s the best of both worlds!

SAMBICA SPARK will feature the same awesome counselors, crazy competitions, wacky water games, intense inflatables, and faith-building bible studies as all of our other camps, but based in a different setting just steps away from camp. SAMBICA SPARK campers will get to enjoy the SAMBICA waterfront and boats on two different days during the week. One day for swimming and one day for boating! SAMBICA SPARK is a great entry point to camp for younger campers because it is specially designed for kids entering grades 1 – 5. It is offered at a lower cost than our other summer camps so that money is hopefully never a reason for kids to not be able to attend camp.

Age/Grade Level: Entering Grades 1 – 5
Schedule: Monday – Friday

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why is SAMBICA offering SPARK camps?
There are a few reasons why SAMBICA has chosen to offer this program:

    • SAMBICA camps are full! This is a blessing of a “problem” to have, but it does mean having to say no to many kids and families each summer. SAMBICA SPARK means saying, “Yes!” to many more campers who want the SAMBICA experience.
    • SAMBICA SPARK offers a summer camp experience to a younger group of kids. SAMBICA SPARK allows us to expand our camps to kids as young as rising 1st graders up through rising 5th graders.
    • With SPARK added to the mix, there are now camps available all summer for many elementary-age campers. SAMBICA SPARK is offered specifically on weeks that our on-camp programs are only available for Junior High and High School Students.

What makes SPARK different from other SAMBICA camps?
    Similarities:

    • Awesome counselors
    • Activities and characters
    • Water games
    • Swimming (1x per week)
    • Tubing in SAMBICA boats (1x per week)
    • Field time with Inflatables every day
    • Carnival
    • Bible Studies
    • Cabin groups with 8-10 campers and counselor
    • Camp runs Monday – Friday

    Differences:

  • Lower cost
  • For grades 1 – 5
  • Bring a sack lunch
  • Pick up and drop off at Sunset Elementary
  • Swimming and boating is not every day
  • What about food?
Campers will bring their own lunches. An afternoon snack will be provided by SAMBICA each day.

How much time will campers spend at Sunset Elementary and how much time at SAMBICA?
Campers will have a morning field activity session (inflatables!) and an afternoon activity each day at SAMBICA. Each week, one day’s afternoon activity will be swimming and one will be boating. In all, SPARK campers will spend 10 hours during the week at SAMBICA and the rest of the time at Sunset Elementary.

How do campers get from Sunset Elementary to SAMBICA and back?
Campers will exit Sunset Elementary at the back of the playground and field area and walk down the paved I-90 trail to the SAMBICA field. It is merely a 60 yard walk. We measured. 🙂 Counselors and Leaders will make this walk right alongside of campers.

Who will supervise the SAMBICA SPARK campers?
Many of the same counselors and activity leaders from SAMBICA will make up the staff for our SPARK camps. Additionally, we are dedicating one full summer staff position to solely to leading the camps, as well as a Camp Medic to be at Sunset Elementary with the campers. Overall oversight will be provided by Ashlyn Casto, SAMBICA’s full time Program Manager. Ashlyn has been excitedly working on the planning phase since the fall and will be with the SPARK campers full time during each week of camp.

Where is pick up and drop off?
Parents will park in the Sunset Elementary parking lot and walk their kids back to the playground each morning. Parents will park and walk back to the playground each afternoon for pick up.

What are the hours of SAMBICA SPARK?
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Morning drop off happens from 8:30 – 9:00 AM and pick up happens 4:00 – 4:30 PM.

Are early drop off and late pick up offered?
We are not able to offer early pick up or late drop off at Sunset Elementary.

    Will there be a Carnival?
Yes! The traditional Carnival will happen during the day on Friday. There is no Thursday evening or overnight option as part of the SPARK program.

How many campers will be part of the SPARK program?
We are prepared for more, but are anticipating roughly 60 campers each week.
