What does SAMBICA stand for?
SAMBICA is an acronym for Sammamish Bible Camp Association, which was our founding title in 1924. Strandvik, which now describes our surrounding community, was the first name used for SAMBICA from 1919 – 1924. Visit our About page to learn more about SAMBICA’s founders and beginnings.

Is SAMBICA a religious organization?
SAMBICA is a non-denominational Christian camp and conference center. Visit our Mission & Vision page to learn more about SAMBICA’s values and mission.

Is SAMBICA affiliated with a particular church or denomination?
SAMBICA has been an independent, interdenominational ministry since the 1930‘s. Visit our About page or read about our Christian Perspective to learn more about our beliefs and history.

Do I have to be attending a church or be a Christian to be involved with SAMBICA?
Summer campers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and even faith perspectives. However, as a Christian camp, campers are taught Bible lessons during their time at camp. SAMBICA retreat facilities are available to other secular and Christian 501c3 groups, which do not have practices or organizational beliefs that conflict with our Christian Perspective and Statement of Faith.

Will my kids be safe at SAMBICA?
The safety and security of our campers is a top priority at SAMBICA. We strive to keep your kids safe while at SAMBICA. During the summer we hire a security guard to watch the grounds especially during our Thursday overnight option for day campers. Water safety is extremely important to our staff. We hire trained lifeguards and boat drivers. Life jackets are worn at all times when campers are using kayaks, water toys and out in our boats. Campers who do not pass our required swim test must also wear life jackets in our swimming area.

How is SAMBICA staffed?
SAMBICA has a small team that works year round providing quality service for our guest groups and programs. This group consists of full time staff, as well as volunteers and interns. In addition, each spring we hire 100+ additional staff members just for the summer. These staff members usually consist of college age young adults. Each team member is put through a rigorous application process and background checks are performed on all of our employees. Visit the Staff page to learn more about our full time team.

How can I get involved at SAMBICA?
